Are you one of those people who crave movie nights? Or are you a movie fanatic? Everyone has their top-rated films. Well, let’s deep-dive into my 5 top-rated movies of all time as rated by (some) critics and reviews.
The Shawshank Redemption
This film is arguably considered the best movie ever. It has a 9.3 rating on IMDb. Many reviews say the movie is a classic piece of unforgettable filmmaking. It is simply a movie that will outlive you. Directed by Frank Darabont and with a story by Stephen King, the movie’s plot is pretty intense.
Andy Dufresne is convicted of murdering his wife and her lover. But only Andy knows he did not commit them. He gets sentenced to two life terms for the murders and ultimately spends time in prison for 19 years. During his stay, he meets a guy named “Red,” played by Morgan Freeman. They end up connecting and becoming friends in prison.
The GodFather
Just like Shawshank Redemption, this movie is pretty good. No, no, no, this movie is more than good; it’s a legendary classic! Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, James Caan, and Diane Keaton are awesome. This movie has a few stars in it, to say the least! Francis Ford Coppola directed it. Michael, played by Al Pacino, unwillingly joins the Mafia in this mob drama.
He becomes involved in a repeated cycle of violence and betrayal. Michael and his wife, Kay, played by Diane Keaton, have a rocky relationship. He tries to rekindle their relationship, but the Mafia is too much to overcome. Michael’s father, Vito, is the leader of the Corleone family mafia, based in New York.
Vito is the type of man who will provide for you with anything if you show respect towards him. If you lack trust or respect, he is dangerous. What follows next is a feud between Vito’s old values and new ones, which may put Michael in jeopardy. It might cause Michael to start a war between all the mob families, which could break the Corleone family apart.
Scarface
All of these movies I listed can definitely be number one. Scarface is in that category, and guess what? Al Pacino stars in this, too. What can’t the man do? This story involves a guy named Tony Montana, who Al Pacino plays. After escaping Cuba during the Mariel Exodus of 80, he finds himself in a refugee camp.
After getting a green card in exchange for killing a Cuban officer, Tony starts to get deep into the drug trade in Miami. Murdering and torturing anybody he sees. Tony Montana eventually starts to become the biggest drug lord, controlling all the cocaine coming through Miami. But eventually, he faces a spiral downfall when the police and his own cocaine-fueled paranoia come into play.
Schindler’s List
If you love war movies, this is the right movie for you. Schindler’s List is full of suspense, ups and downs, and a whole lot of action. Many people say this is their favorite movie of all time because of how detailed and well-executed it is.
Oskar Schindler, played by Liam Neeson, is a German businessman who goes to Krakow, Poland, to make money from WWII. He joins the Nazi party due to the political party being corrupt. He starts to operate his factory with Jewish prisoners, who are pretty much enslaved.
When the Nazis start to exterminate the Jews from the ghetto part of Krakow, Schindler begins to protect his Jewish workers at his factory to keep the factory going. He soon realizes that he is also saving innocent lives by doing so.
Pulp Fiction
If Quentin Tarantino directs a movie, you know it will be good. Tarantino has produced some iconic movies. They should be on this list, but I am only picking five. He has directed films such as The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained, Kill Bill, and Reservoir Dogs. But we are talking about the best movie he has produced, in my opinion, Pulp Fiction.
John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson star in this perfect writing and acting film. The movie is about Vincent Vega, played by John Travolta, and Jules Winnfield, played by Samuel L Jackson. They are hitmen who work for mob boss Marsellus Wallace, played by Ving Rhames. This film follows their misadventures as they carry out hits and navigate the criminal underground.
Pulp Fiction is known for its engaging storytelling, with events presented out of chronological order. This unique style allows the film to give the people watching it different perspectives on the movie. I think that is amazing and a fun way to direct a movie.

My opinion
Every movie on this list deserves a gold medal—five out of five stars. Each movie has its own unique qualities, but what sticks out the most is how incredibly directed and well-written these movies are. They don’t make movies like these anymore.
All you see now is just woke people pushing these dumb movie ideas that have zero meaning to them. It is all bullshit. Bring back these classics; I mean, nobody wants to see a stupid Disney movie.
That said, there are still some good new movies, like Oppenheimer. But the ratings are out of control today. Barbie… Really? How is that rated highly by the critics? It is absolutely nonsense.
